Alpha has been the means through which I have gained an understanding of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and how to worship my God and thank Him every day for all my blessings. It has been an experience of fellowship, love and sharing with everyone on the course, and the dinners were a time to catch up and chat about the past week's ups and downs. Alpha weekend was amazing with the Holy Spirit's power and presence. Alpha has given me a way forward/structure as a Christian. Thanks to all the helpers and leaders, and for God's presence in my life. Louise Storch-Nielsen |

After attending the Alpha course and becoming a Christian earlier this year, I felt perplexed at the thought of "how do I now live out my new Christian life?" The Philippians course identified and explained to me in practical ways, how I should be living my new life. I now understand that God has given me a "new heart", a "new purpose" and a "new attitude" in order to be able to share His word with others. The weekend away strengthened existing friendships and created new ones too. Now I really understand what it means to be "brothers in Christ". I am filled with a new confidence after attending the Philippians workshop and all I can say is "Thank You, Lord, for through You all things are possible." Now I know that true happiness can only come from giving up your worldly values - that means stripping yourself of all self-importance - and realizing that God is in control of everything. Give everything up to God, live your life centred around Christ, and you will experience true happiness. Sue-Anne Vercuil |

………. "I always thought of myself as a good person; I also thought that Christians were hypocrites, but after attending the Alpha course I realized just how wrong I was. I learned that I was living a life of sin and that just by praying I could get rid of all those thoughts and feelings. I struggled to come to terms with the fact that God wanted me and was asking me to let Him make a home in my heart, and after a lot of prayers and tears I found that life is not that difficult to deal with if you have Jesus walking next to you. All the problems I thought I would have, disappeared and the solutions were clear - they had been there all the time, I had just been too blind to see them. I now find myself talking to God all the time, praying, reading and understanding my Bible, and wanting to go to Church again and be around other Christians. I'm looking forward to my growth in Christ and doing His work, and my wish now is for all those who are still blind, to see and feel the joy and love that I feel every day." |

| ………"I'm so thankful to the Lord for prompting me to attend the Alpha Course. The fellowship amongst all concerned was wonderful and the videos by Nicky Gumble were amazing. My faith has been incredibly strengthened and renewed and I know the Holy Spirit is working in my life. I sincerely recommend the Alpha Course to everyone. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME! " | |

………. "Probably the main thing I learned from joining
the Alpha Course is the understanding that being a Christian and
Christianity is more than just a religious concept, but unlike other
religious practices, is a living and loving relationship with God.
Don't get me wrong, I believed in God, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
I had been baptised and confirmed, went to Church, prayed (in
Church), read the Bible (in Church). I was a Christian but I didn't
have a friendship with the living Lord. Alpha helped me realise that
more than ever God wants to have a relationship with us, His
children, and that the way of doing this is to spend time getting to
know Him in all His Glory, just as one would spend time getting to
know all about another human being before one could call them a
friend. The amazing thing is that God, unlike human friends, doesn't hold your past against you (He forgives all sins); He accepts you as you are; He doesn't keep a record of how often you pray or go to Church, but knows your heart and true intentions with every action you take. All He asks is that you go out and spread the Gospel (Good News) and love everyone with the love of the Lord. The wonderful thing about having Jesus as a best friend is that the more one gets to know Him through scripture and prayer, the more one wants to get to know him - so you read more and pray more. But we are after all, human, and sometimes it's difficult to get yourself to do what you really should be longing to do (that is praise God) especially in circumstances when one may feel despondent; and what I have learned from Alpha is to praise God in ALL circumstances, and believe, trust and have faith in His promises even though one doesn't understand. To some, Alpha may seem to be a course that only non-believers go on to come to faith in Jesus (and that in essence is what it is), but it is also there for believers to come to a deeper understanding of God and His unconditional love for us, and the Alpha course through God's Spirit working in you, may just help you to reach into that part of your being that has forgotten the amazing sacrifice of Jesus dying on the Cross to save the world from sin. May you then (as I have been) be refilled with His Spirit so that the fire that may have been burning steadily, yet gently, erupts into the inferno it has every possibility to be." |
